As the co-chair of Gowns for Good, Chattanooga Bar Association Executive Director Lynda Minks Hood wants everyone to dig through their closets and pick out something nice for someone else to wear.
Volunteers in Medicine will host Gowns for Good Wednesday, Nov. 3, at The Mill of Chattanooga. The inaugural luncheon will aim to raise funds for the medically underserved.
“The goal is to have fun raising funds for an important cause,” says Hood, who will be donating eveningwear of her own.
Gowns for Good will feature a fashion show during which participants will be able to place live bids. Proceeds from the benefit will support the local Volunteers in Medicine primary care charity clinic.
Doors to the Nov. 3 event will open at 11 a.m. Attendees will be able to browse and purchase additional items from several local boutiques, including other fashion selections and accessories such as handbags, shoes and jewelry. A portion of the purchases will benefit VIM.
A selection of the donated gowns and dresses that will be made available for bidding at the event will be posted in advance at facebook.com/vimchatt and instagram.com/vim_chatt.
The Gowns for Good donation criteria is available at www.VIM-chatt.org.
VIM provides access to health care to uninsured individuals. Since 2005, the nonprofit has helped more than 75,000 patients receive treatment valued at more than $25 million at clinic rates and $109 million at conservative ER rates.
