The City Commission agreed Friday to adopt a resolution Tuesday authorizing a lease to Moccasin Bend Golf Club, Inc., of property the city owns jointly with the county on Moccasin Bend. Jimmy Wann, president of the golf club corporation, said they proposed to build an 18-hole golf course on the site which would be open to the public on a greens fee basis.

Herbert Banks, executive director of the Chattanooga Housing Authority since 1953, Thursday submitted his resignation in a letter to chairman Joe F. DiRisio of the board of commissioners. Banks cited “a difference of opinion between me and the board as to how the authority should be operated” as the reason for his resignation.
A modern restaurant will be built in what now is the lobby of Hotel Key and the name of the building has been changed to Town House, B.A. Casey, Jr., president of Town House Properties, Inc., announced Saturday.
Monday, July 5
A two-story building will be erected extending through from 909 Georgia Ave. to 910 Market Street, and a new Quickie Shoppes, Inc., restaurant will occupy the ground floor on Georgia Ave. The property which is 26-feet wide and about 20 feet in length is owned by L.E. Belk and Mrs. Sarah B. Belk and Mrs. Josephine B. Bryan. Construction will start immediately. The former building on the property was destroyed by fire in December of 1963.
Henry Doke Cage of Springfield, Tenn., has been appointed Administrator of the St. Barnabas Nursing Home and apartments for the elderly, according to R. Gordon Fitzell, chairman of the St. Barnabas board of trustees. The nursing home, located on Pine Street at West Sixth, is scheduled to open in September and the apartments in the spring of 1966.

The Hamilton County Quarterly Court concurring in a recommendation of Chancellor M. B. Finkelstein that it appoint a public administrator, Monday named Joseph M. Parker to serve as the county’s public administrator and public guardian in probate court matters.
The American Legion National Commander, Donald E. Johnson, West Branch, Iowa, will be in Chattanooga Saturday, July 11 to address Tennessee Legionnaires at their 47th annual state convention.
Wednesday, July 7
Matz Birgerson, 18-year old of Finspong, Sweden, a visitor to Chattanooga, was given the keys to the city and a special tribute from Downtown Lions Club at its weekly luncheon meeting, Wednesday, at the Read House. Dr. and Mrs. Frank Green are hosts for Birgerston during his two-month stay in Chattanooga. He is the area’s first visitor from abroad under auspices of the Lions International Youth Exchange program.

Three members of the County Council and the County Manager, Raymond Proctor, will attend the 1965 Convention of the National Association of Counties next week in San Diego, Calif. County Judge Frost, David Eldridge and Jack Mayfield will represent the County Council.
Friday, July 9
Young Zan Guerry of Lookout Mountain gave all us Hamilton Countians and, indeed, the whole state, reason for pride when he captured his third national singles championship and fourth national doubles tennis crown last Sunday in Burlingame, Calif. He carried on a Guerry family tradition with his fine game, his father, Alex Guerry, Jr., having a notable record himself in the tennis world.
