Judge Clarence Shattuck has become accustomed to the bench during his 34 years as a Hamilton County General Sessions Court. But as a Senior Olympian basketball player, the judge prefers to get off the bench and onto the court. Recently, Judge Shattuck won the individual three-point shooting contest and placed second in the Hot Shot competition at the Tennessee State Senior Olympics, held in Franklin, Tenn.

Judge Shattucks’s team, the Chattanooga Bombers basketball team, won first place, which secured them a spot in the National Senior Games, to be held in Birmingham, Ala. in 2017. The Senior Olympics are played in five-year age brackets, and the Bombers have placed first or second in the state competition for 16 consecutive years.

Judge Shattuck’s teammates include Donnie Doran, Dan Myers, Charlie Rogers, Larry Davis, and Joe Sykes. Judge Shattuck, Myers, and Rogers all played at Soddy Daisy High School.

Judge Shattuck received his B.S. degree from Tennessee Technological University and his LL.B from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville in 1960. He began his legal career the same year, working for the law firm of Kelley and Dirisio. In 1996, Judge Shattuck founded a law firm with Sam Payne (a former Circuit Court judge). He later went into practice with Judge Durby. In 1982, the Hamilton County Commission elected Judge Shattuck to replace Judge Raulston Schoolfield.

Judge Shattuck ran unopposed in the general election on August 7, 2014. His current term ends in 2022.
