Fresh on Fridays

Fresh On Fridays offers fresh made fare from local restaurants, food trucks, artisans and farmers. Participants include Southern Burger Company, Famous Nater’s World Famous, Link 41 Sausage, Pure Soda Works, Monkey Town Donut Company, Ello Ello, Legends Cookies, Taste of Argentina, Taco Sherpa, Herr Flowers and Flat Top Mountain Produce. Location: Miller Plaza, located downtown across the street from The Volunteer Building. Time: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Nightfall Welcomes Van Hunt

Charismatic live performer Van Hunt will perform at Nightfall, a series of free concerts held at Miller Plaza each Friday night during the summer months. Drawing comparisons to Prince, Sly Stone and Lenny Kravitz, Hunt is on the road to promote the release of his new album. He’s toured both as headliner and alongside such diverse acts as Kanye West, The Roots, Coldplay, Mary J. Blige and Dave Matthews Band. Time: 8 p.m.

Chattanooga River Market at the Tennessee Aquarium Plaza

The Chattanooga River Market is held each Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Ross’s Landing in the Tennessee Aquarium Plaza. This new market includes live music, produce and art vendors.

Audubon Acres Owl Prowl

The Chattanooga Audubon Society will host a special owl prowl at Audubon Acres from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Participants will receive a short review of common owl calls and then walk the Audubon Acres trails to listen for birds. Email ksimpson@chaas.org to register.

Observe 1N3 Day

A drunken driving incident impacts one in three people in the United States. To bring awareness to the dangers of impaired driving, 1N3 will host its first annual International 1N3 Day in 107 cities in 31 states and eight locations in other countries. Locally, they will meet at Buffalo Wild Wings in Hixson at 6 p.m. for a balloon release ceremony. The mother and brother of Chattanooga resident Kevin Yates, killed by a drunk driver last August, founded the organization. More at www.iam1n3.org.

Free Fitness Class

Greenlife Grocery will host a free public fitness classes using the Px90 and Insanity program at 6 p.m. at Outdoor Chattanooga in Coolidge Park. Instructor Paul Mason will gear the class toward people of all fitness levels. Greenlife healthy eating specialist Morgan Walley will provide healthy snacks. No registration required.

Family Nickajack Cave Canoe Trip

Adults and kids ages 5 and older are invited to join Outdoor Chattanooga for a family canoe trip to Nickajack Cave. They will launch at the Maple View Recreation Area and canoe to the mouth of the cave to watch thousands of endangered gray bats come out to forage at dusk. Time: 7:30 p.m. Reservations required. 30th annual Cherokee Days of Recognition

The Friends of Red Clay and Red Clay State Historic Park will host the 30th Annual Cherokee Days of Recognition at Red Clay Park from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Activities will include traditional dance, stick ball games, storytelling, living history, Cherokee crafts, Cherokee food and a blowgun tournament. Lawn chairs and blankets recommended. The only cost to attend is a nominal parking fee. Call 423-478-0339 for more information.

All American Summer Sunday

Hunter Museum of American Art’s second All American Summer Free Sunday features bluesman Ed Huey on the terrace from 2-4 p.m. Free to all.
