A house-to-house canvas is being made by the Sons of Veterans seeking accommodations for encampment visitors for the G.A.R. Reunion to be held in Chattanooga September 15-20. Vice-chairman J.W. Eastman has been kept very busy.
Miss Ruth Williams will return to her home in Highland Park after a month’s visit with relatives in Indianapolis, Ind.
Miss Margaret Read entertained with a luncheon at the English Tea Room complimenting Miss Cornelia Blackburn of Georgetown, Ky. Covers were laid for 10. Miss Blackburn is the guest of Miss Mary Louise Spurlock.
Sunday, July 27
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rohrback of Frederick, Md., announce the engagement of their daughter, Frances Eagle, to J. Victor Golibart of Chattanooga. The wedding will be solemnized September 9.
Mrs. Lewis M. Coleman and sons, Lewis and Charles, left Saturday for Portland, Maine, to spend the rest of the summer months.
Mrs. S.D. Lodor and daughters, Misses Bessie and Susie, will leave soon for New York, where they will sail for England.
Mrs. S.E. Howell has returned from North Carolina and has joined Miss Emily Howell on Walden’s Ridge.
Monday, July 28
Charles F. Hood and daughter, Harriet, are in Toronto, Canada attending a Gideon Convention.
Mr. and Mrs. G.O. Crouch will move this week into their new home on Walden’s Ridge.
Tuesday, July 29
Miss Dorothy Taylor of Washington has returned to her home after a two-week visit with Miss Margaret Wells. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Taylor came to accompany her home. They were guests of Mr. and Mrs. E.O. Wells.
In a surprise wedding Sunday, Miss Edythe Walker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Walker, was married to Gordon Leigh Moumblo of Buffalo, N.Y., by Rev. Campbell Gray. Mrs. Moumblo is actively connected with Christ Church. Mr. Moumblo will go into business in Chattanooga following a wedding trip.
Charles D. Newman of Memphis has returned to his home after a visit to his sister, Mrs. Walter Cummings at “Farm Fields.”
Wednesday, July 30
Dr. and Mrs. Benjamin Allen and Mr. and Mrs. T.E. Hall will spend the weekend at Rhea Springs.
Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Crabtree have returned from their wedding trip and are with Col. and Mrs W.R. Crabtree at Belvoir Farm.
Thursday, July 31
The Hon. and Mrs. Jesse Littleton entertained with a buffet supper and dance at their home on Lookout Mountain in honor of Miss Margaret Landis of Nashville, with 70 guests present.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Colburn and Mr. and Mrs. W.D. Carswell will return today from a motor trip through Georgia.
Cap’t T.F. Tarwater and Polk Tarwater of Rockwood were guests in Chattanooga Tuesday.
An important session of the Southern Presbyterian Women’s Union was held at the home of Mr. T.H. McCallie at the foot of Missionary Ridge. Mrs. McCallie is president of the group. Over 100 women were present.
Friday, August 1
Miss Fannie Wassman has returned from a visit to Mrs. Adolp Heller in Bristol.
Miss Ernie Nixon will leave Wednesday for Ridgetop, Tenn., to visit Miss Fay Shelley. Mrs. Ralph Bell will join Miss Nixon about the middle of August to visit Miss Shelley.
