The Chattanooga Salvation Army is partnering with local Bi-Lo supermarkets to kick start the new Flowers of Hope program.

Volunteers gathered today at 8:30 a.m. at The Salvation Army Citadel Corps and Community Center on North Moore Road in Chattanooga to create arrangements, write notes of encouragement, and deliver the flowers to those who need uplifting.

Every Friday, Bi-Lo will donate flowers that will be turned into floral arrangements. These arrangements will be given to people in the Chattanooga community who need encouragement, such as those in nursing homes, homeless outreach facilities, and hospitals. Volunteers will create the arrangements and deliver them personally.

“For 121 years, the Salvation Army has been providing hope to the hopeless in the Chattanooga area,” said Major Algerome Newsome, Salvation Army Area Commander. “The Flowers of Hope program provides one more opportunity for us to continue doing the most good and bring hope to our community.”

The Salvation Army needs volunteers to help on Flower Days and businesses to donate flowers to the program. To volunteer or donate, visit www.csarmy.org.
