Representatives of the Chattanooga Airport and Hoar Construction have broken ground on the airport’s $25 million, four-level, 1,300-space parking facility.
“Our new parking facility will create an additional layer of convenience and accessibility for thousands of travelers,” says Terry Hart, president and CEO of the Chattanooga Airport.
“In recent months, airports across the world have been forced to suspend major improvement projects. We’re very fortunate to be able to move forward with construction of this valuable new amenity for our passengers.”
Led by Hoar Construction, the design-build team also includes MBI Companies, American Structural Concrete, International Parking Design and Culp & Tanner Structural Engineers.
The parking garage is the first of multiple improvement and expansion projects at the airport. In response to growth over the past several years, the airport is also planning the largest expansion to its passenger terminal since its opening in 1991. Design of the expanded terminal is expected to begin later this year.
The parking garage is expected to be complete within one year.
