200 Realtor Associations among those embracing the Facebook opportunity

Twenty-three state and 177 local Realtor Associations, representing over 560,000 Realtor across the United States have added the Real Estate Agent Directory on Facebook to their Facebook business pages, making it easy for the millions of potential buyers and sellers on Facebook to find, learn about and connect with their members.

At the same time, the Directory crossed two other major milestones, as more than 75,000 real estate professionals have joined the service in the nine months since its launch and more than 400 real estate brokerages have likewise added the Directory to their Facebook business pages.

“Reaching all of these significant milestones nearly simultaneously is testimony to the fact that the Facebook platform and its Open Graph system of networking uniquely and powerfully achieves the most important aspect of a real estate professional’s career – connecting with people.

Having a simple, clear path to market your properties and your personal brand to as many people as possible is the heart of a successful career in real estate and no other vehicle has had the potential to accomplish this as well as Facebook and the Real Estate Agent Directory,” said Directory Founder and CEO, Mark Bloomfield.

Communications Director for the Idaho Association of Realtors, Laura Parsons, added, “As social media continues to expand and include professional communities ... I foresee limitless opportunities to develop and nurture mutually beneficial connections. The largest and most influential social network to date can now function as an unlimited source of these connections for real estate agents through the Real Estate Agent Directory on Facebook.”

Since 2008, agent use of Facebook for business purposes has grown from less than 30% to over 90 percent today. Of the 160 million U.S. users on Facebook, 100 million are between the ages of 30 and 55, a sweet spot for the industry. The amount of time users spend on Facebook has also grown to staggering levels. The most recent estimate is that users spend collectively over 44,000 years of time on Facebook every day and one out of every five webpage views on the entire Internet is a Facebook page.

It is becoming increasingly clear. For an industry dependent upon social connections, Facebook is a reliable and rapidly growing source of business opportunity.
