Chattanooga Neighborhood Enterprise announced that Martina Guilfoil has been hired as the new executive director of the 27-year-old affordable housing development company. Guilfoil brings 30 years of not-for-profit leadership experience in community and economic development and affordable housing to the position.
“CNE has a strong legacy of building and sustaining livable Chattanooga neighborhoods,” said Stephen Johnson, CNE board chairman. “Ms. Guilfoil brings a wealth of experience that will enable us to take CNE’s impact on the individuals we serve and the community to a new level.”
Guilfoil, who will officially take the helm in September, comes to Chattanooga from her current role as executive director of Orange County Housing Trust in Anaheim, Calif. Guilfoil previously held a variety of nonprofit executive positions, including executive director of Seattle’s Rainier Valley Community Development Fund, CEO of Sarasota, Fla.’s Community Housing Trust, executive director of Inglewood Neighborhood Housing Services in California, and president of the National NeighborWorks Association.
“In the 20 years I was a part of the NeighborWorks network, CNE has had a stellar reputation,” said Guilfoil. “I’m looking forward to carrying on that legacy and building an organization that significantly impacts the quality of life for residents in Chattanooga’s neighborhoods and the community as a whole.”
NeighborWorks America is one of the country’s leaders in affordable housing and community development, with a network of 235 independent, community-based nonprofit organizations serving more than 4,500 communities nationwide. CNE is a part of the overall NeighborWorks network.
Guilfoil plans to immediately begin working with CNE’s board of directors and staff to further develop the organization’s strategic vision.
“CNE will continue to be a partner in Chattanooga’s community and economic development efforts and an implementer of the City’s vision,” said Guilfoil. “I’m thrilled to be relocating to such a vibrant and diverse city that has won national acclaim for its revitalization efforts over the past few decades.”
