William Rye Bell, 50, Brainerd High history teacher and one of the most outstanding weight-lifting instructors in the Southeast, died Thursday morning of a heart attack suffered in the Frye Institute weight room.

Plans for a 450-lot residential subdivision, one of the largest ever undertaken in the Chattanooga area, were announced Saturday by W.G. Smith, president of the Greater Tennessee Corporation. A 283-acre tract in the Tiftonia region at the foot of Elder Mountain has been acquired as the site for the project.
Monday, July 19
Max Morgan of Chattanooga was elected commander of the East Tennessee Division of American Legion at the final session of the State Convention of the Legion Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter T. Forbes have made a $25,000 gift to Converse College as a memorial to their son, the late Felder Frederick Forbes. A further tribute has been made to his memory by the establishment of a library at Baylor where he had been an outstanding student and athlete.

The death of Miss Jessal Holtzclaw took from Chattanooga one of its outstanding church laywomen and member of a family long prominent in the professional and cultural life of the city. She came to Chattanooga as a young girl with her late parents, Judge J.A. Holtzclaw and Sarah Cooper Holtzclaw, from Dalton, Georgia, where she was born in 1877. She was a sister of the late Dr. Cooper Holtzclaw and the late Mrs. Lucy Holtzclaw McDonald. For several years, she made her home with another sister, Mrs. Howard McCall, on West Brow Road, Lookout Mountain.

George S. Elias, Rogers Co., producer and director, who will have charge of the big outdoor pageant, “Tomahawks to TVA” Sept. 10-17 has arrived in Chattanooga and is now at work on the pageant to be held at Engel Stadium.
Edgar D. Collins, Chattanooga businessman and past exalted ruler of Lodge No. 91 has been appointed deputy grand exalted ruler for Tennessee, East, in the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks.
Thursday, July 22
Walter H. Wheeler, Jr., chairman of the board of Pitney-Bowes, Inc., Stanford, Conn., will address a luncheon in the Read House August 11 to kick off the 1965 United Fund Campaign, John Guerry, 1965 campaign chairman announced.
Friday, July 23
Raleigh Tozer, representative of the Rogers Co., Fostoria, Ohio, supervising the sesquicentennial celebration activities in Chattanooga, addressed the Chattanooga Junior Chamber of Commerce. Tozer said, “The secret of a successful celebration is that everybody have a part in it.”
