The pilot at the controls of Air Force One on Sept. 11, 2001, will speak at the Friends of Scouting Luncheon this fall.
Retired Col. Mark Tillman will speak at the Cherokee Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America’s annual fundraiser on Sept. 28 at 11:30 a.m. at the Chattanooga Convention Center.
Tillman served as pilot and commander of Air Force One from 2001-2009, including during 9/11. He was also the first pilot to fly the U.S. commander in chief into an active war zone.
Tillman’s career in the United States Air Force spanned 30 years.
“We’re excited to welcome Col. Tillman and hear his firsthand accounts of remarkable moments in our nation’s history, as well as how the values and morals taught by the Boy Scouts helped to prepare him for those moments,” says Jared Pickens, Scout executive of the Cherokee Area Council.
