Chattanooga Concerns received $25,426,000 in contracts in a nine-month period in the federal government’s nation-wide program, designed to assists areas with substantial labor surpluses.

Sunday, July 16

The Chattanooga Education Association has issued a call for all school teachers to meet at City Hall Monday morning to express to Mayor Olgiati and other members of the City Commission their support of Supt. Bennie Carmichael in his stand on the 1961-62 school budget.

Wednesday, July 19

There has been a sharp pick-up in the safety lane business and the speculation is that car owners are getting one more inspection sticker before the fee is increased from 50 cents to $1.00 on August 8. The increased fee will provide $65,000 in additional revenues for general use purposes.

Thursday, July 20

Two road projects for Hamilton County are to be in the Tennessee Highway Department’s August contract awards. Amnicola Highway underpass that will take trains of the Southern Railway under auto traffic, and paving of 3.45 miles of Apison Pike be-tween Collegedale and Highway 11.
