Chancellors Jeffrey M. Atherton and W. Frank Brown, III, and Chancellor-elect Pam McNutt Fleenor, have selected Robin L. Miller to be the next Clerk & Master for the 11th Judicial District.
Miller, an attorney with Spears, Moore, Rebman & Williams, said she’s honored to have been chosen Clerk & Master: “Having always admired and respected the work performed in that office, I’m hopeful I can bring the same level of excellence the Honorable Lee Akers and his entire staff established, and I am looking forward to assisting Chancellors Atherton and Fleenor. I learned a great deal from trying cases before Chancellors Brown, Atherton, and Peoples, and I’m grateful for their guidance and wisdom.”
The appointment of Miller is pursuant to Article VI, Section 13 of the Tennessee Constitution of 1870. This same provision of the Tennessee Constitution allowed the judges of the Tennessee Supreme Court to appoint James M. Hivner as Clerk for the appellate courts on June 3.
Seventeen applications for the position of Clerk & Master were submitted, some of which were withdrawn. The chancellors said they were pleased with the quality and quantity of the attorneys who applied. All of the candidates had excellent credentials and each had much to offer the public, Chancellor Atherton said.
Miller’s appointment will be effective September 9, 2014, upon the retirement of S. Lee Akers after a long and distinguished career. The appointers are confident Miller and the other members of the office and staff will continue to provide professional, courteous, and efficient service to the attorneys and members of the public.
