First Tennessee Bank’s Chattanooga Community Development Manager Tracee Smith and Cleveland Community President Mike Griffin recently presented Ancla Insurance and Services President Beth Underwood with a check for $50,000 at First Tennessee’s downtown office.
The funds donated by First Tennessee will be used to enhance Ancla’s onsite computer lab and build on its lifestyle and career development programs.
Ancla, whose name is derived from the Spanish word for “anchor,” is an insurance, career counseling, consulting, and multi-service company. Ancla’s programs are designed to teach clients how to advance through the requirements of today’s world.
The computer lab, which is used to host free, onsite bilingual classes and workshops ranging from financial literacy, to resume writing, to career development, will be updated with the newest technology and resources. With the improvements, Ancla will be able to further expand its calendar of events and sessions for clients who need help entering the workforce, advancing their career, or establishing their own small business.
“Ancla is proud to partner with First Tennessee. We share a vision to support traditionally underserved communities,” said Underwood.
Smith said, “We are committed to ensuring that the community is a great place to live and work.”
