Spero Health opens addiction treatment center in Chattanooga

Spero Health is opening an outpatient addiction treatment clinic in Chattanooga. Located at 7030 Lee Highway, the clinic is expected to start seeing patients at the end of June.

Spero Health accepts TennCare and participates with select commercial insurance plans.

Dr. Lisa Fara is the clinic’s medical director. After many years of practicing as a board-certified family physician, Dr. Fara completed a fellowship in addiction medicine, qualifying her to provide addiction care to patients through medical detoxification and medication-assisted therapy.

Fara describes addiction as an “individual, desperate, internal struggle each patient and their loved ones experiences.”

Data released by the Tennessee Department of Health shows deaths from overdoses have been increasing year after year. Chattanooga is ranked 20th among the worst 25 cities in the U.S. for opioid prescription abuse.

“We are committed to bringing local, affordable and comprehensive solutions to communities across the state and meeting the needs of those struggling with opioid addiction and other substances,” Spero Health CEO Steve Priest says.

“Failing to treat addiction appropriately has dire ripple effects in our local and national communities,” Fara adds. “Our most current scientific and evidenced-based knowledge regarding effective addiction treatment tells us that this disease requires comprehensive, sustained and collaborative medical and psychosocial therapeutics.”

Spero Health also offers recovery support services and addiction-related counseling.
