Judge Rebecca Stern last Friday marked the end of 18 years on the Hamilton County Criminal Court bench with a small farewell party.
After working through her final docket, she welcomed friends and colleagues into her courtroom for cake, memories, and best wishes.
The following day, Judge Stern traded her hammer and gavel for a beach in Puerto Rico.
Although Gov. Bill Haslam has not yet named Judge Stern’s successor, he did meet with the three candidates (Deputy Public Defender Mike Little and Assistant District Attorneys General Boyd Patterson and Leslie Longshore) on Monday.
