Chattanooga State Community College recently welcomed Quincy Jenkins as its inaugural executive director of diversity, equity and inclusion. Jenkins comes to Chattanooga State after serving as the inaugural director of Latinx Outreach at Dalton State for seven years.
A native of Carrolton, Georgia, and a current doctoral candidate at Vanderbilt University’s Peabody College, Jenkins brings 12 years of experience in higher education to Chattanooga State as well as proficiency in English, Spanish, Italian and the Chamorro and Guamanian languages.
Jenkins initial’s goals include:
Leading campuswide conversations concerning race, ethnicity, identity, poverty, gender and opportunity
Expanding Chattanooga State’s institutional understanding of diversity, equity and inclusion
Embedding equity in the school’s practices, policies and procedures across the institution
Increasing the success rates of Chattanooga State’s underrepresented demographics
Framing the school as a leader in inclusive excellence through evidence-based research
