Make Music Chattanooga returns

Make Music Chattanooga will return for a fourth year Friday, June 21. In addition to over 40 concerts, highlights will include an electric guitar parade, a harmonica workshop (free harmonica included), drum set duos, a summer solstice dance party and the summer solstice jam. Schedule

Barefoot Nellie to headline July 4 celebration

The Jewish Federation of Greater Chattanooga invites the community to celebrate Independence Day with an indoor picnic Thursday, July 4, 11:30 a.m., at the Jewish Cultural Center, 5461 North Terrace Road. Local bluegrass band Barefoot Nellie will headline the event. Grilled chicken, potato salad, coleslaw and dessert are on the menu. Tickets

Pops on the River

The 2019 Pops on the River Independence Day celebration will take place Wednesday, July 3, 5 p.m., at Coolidge Park. The free event will feature a patriotic concert by the Chattanooga Symphony & Opera, as well as performances from veteran songwriters with Operation Song. A large fireworks display is scheduled for its conclusion at approximately 9:45 p.m. Food and drink concessions will be available on-site. The public is invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets.

Strike Out bowling tournament

The Medical Foundation of Chattanooga will host the Strike Out bowling tournament Saturday, July 13, 2-4 p.m. at Spare Time Bowling in Hixson. The event will benefit Project Access, which enables area physicians to provide free medical care. Register

National summer program for students

A leadership and entrepreneurial program for rising seventh through rising 10th-graders is coming to Chattanooga for the first time.
