Chattanoogans who are spending some time at Mineral Springs are Mrs. J.M. Ramsey and Miss Rosamond Ramsey, Misses Georgia and Mabel Green, Ms. C.D. Clark, and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Gross.

Sunday, June 16

“A Hypnotic Spree” comedy sketch written by Bobby Strauss will be given July 2 at the Bijou Theater under the auspices of the Chattanooga Music Club. The story concerns four college boys, Billy Watkins played by Tom Dewees, his Uncle Harry Miller played by Raleigh Crumbliss, Doc Bullock played by Sam Connelly, and Parson Williams played by Bobby Strauss. The play is full of fun and hard work.

The announcement of the engagement and approaching marriage of Miss Sadie Stivers to Mr. Pembroke Brawner was made today. The wedding will take place June 29.

Two Chattanooga girls will graduate from Wellesly this year: Miss Ruth Perry, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L.S. Perry, and Miss Leonora Miller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H.J. Miller.

A beautiful wedding in Memphis this week was that of Miss Rosalyn Foster and Dr. James Logan Morgan of Chattanooga. Dr. Morgan was a popular student and football star at the University of Chattanooga.

Monday, June 17

Much regret is expressed by the many friends of Senator J.B. Frazier, who is seriously ill in a Nashville hospital, and it is feared he will not be able to campaign in the coming race for governor and might be forced to withdraw. His physicians, Dr. Atlee and Dr. Wallace, feel it might be too much for him.

Miss Lula Yarrington is spending some time with friends in Highland Park before leaving for Nashville to spend the rest of the summer.

Mr. and Mrs. Fay B. Murphy left yesterday for Rome to spend some time visiting relatives.

Mr. and Mrs. Luke Hall and daughter left Sunday for Cartersville, Ga., for a visit.

Tuesday, June 17

Christmas toys from “Kris Kringle’s” shops in Germany have arrived in Brooke & Robinson Warehouse. The toys comprise lines never before shown.

A wedding of interest was quietly celebrated in St. Paul’s Chapel Monday night when Miss Elizabeth High and Charles O. Decker were married by Rev. Loaring Clark. Both are popular young people. Mr. Decker is connected with the Southern Express Co.

The boys of the younger set are making elaborate preparations for the homecoming dance Friday night at the Masonic Temple. A feature will be “Musical Jones” composed by Vaughn Miller, a student at Yale. The song has been popular in the North, but this will be the first time it will be heard here.

Wednesday, June 19

Mrs. J. M. Gager entertained with an informal thimble party at her home on Battery Place in honor of Mrs. Robert Steward of Canada, who is visiting Col. And Mrs. D.M. Steward.

Miss Isabel Gettys is hostess to a house party at her home in Athens. Her guests are Misses Mary Read, Elizabeth Hill, Mamie Craig, Margaret Sadd, and Elizabeth Read; Messrs. Paul Campbell, Charlie Coffey, Bartow Strang, Edmond Smartt; Hugh Crumbliss and George Smartt, and Mr. and Mrs. James F. Finlay.

Thursday, June 20

Mr. and Mrs. Sam Campbell, John C. Campbell and Sam Hutcheson are in Fairfield, N.C., for a two week fishing trip.

Miss Eunice Wikstrom and Oscar Exdahl were quietly married Wednesday night in the study of the First Presbyterian Church by Dr. J.W. Bachman. They left for New York and Atlantic City after the ceremony. Miss Wikstrom is the daughter of Julius Wikstrom, a Chattanooga jeweler, and Mr. Exdahl is a member of the tailoring firm Wetzel & Exdahl.

Mrs. H.H. Eager will return this week from a visit to relatives in Knoxville.

Mrs. T.C. Betterton and Miss Mary Parks returned Wednesday from a trip to New York. E.R. Betterton, Miss Sarah Betterton and Parks Betterton stopped in Virginia for a visit before returning home.

Friday, June 21

William Fritts is entertaining with a house party at his home on Waldens Ridge. Mr. and Mrs. B.F. Fritts are chaperones. His guests are Misses Margaret Estes, Maude Whiteside and Grace Kalb, and Messrs. Sam Devine and Sam Connelly.

Miss Katherine Abeel entertained her classmates with a luncheon at her home in Highland Park. Her guests were Fay Raulston, Marguerite Jackson, Mary Eleanor Burton, Madeline Genung, Marguerite Sutton, Arie Weiler, Mary Dickson and Gladys Godfrey.

The comrades of Capt. C.D. Mitchell celebrated his 70th birthday Thursday at his home, “The Oaks,” east of Missionary Ridge. Capt. Mitchell is an ex-Union Army office of distinction. His guests were Gen. Xenophon Wheeler, Gen. R.W. Healy, Capt. W.B. Smith, Col. H.B. Case, Col. D.M. Coffman, Major W.J. Colburn, Capt. F.E. Tyler, Capt. W.B. Biese, Capt. H.S. Chamberlain, Capt. H.F. Temple, Capt. Z.C. Patten, Capt. J.P. Kendrick, Gen. John T. Wilder, Capt. A.J. Gahagan, Capt. A.G. Stivers, Capt. G.W. Wheland, Capt. W.W. French, Major F.S. Wallace, all of the Union Army and two Confederate veterans, Judge Lewis Shepherd and Major John C. Anderson. Capt. Mitchell was presented with a beautiful loving cup.
