R. Tyler Hand, a veteran transactional attorney with extensive middle-market experience, has joined Waller Lansden Dortch & Davis. Hand joins Waller’s Chattanooga office, which opened in March with the arrival of a team focused on mergers and acquisitions, private equity and mezzanine finance.
“Clients benefit from Tyler’s unique combination of legal, tax and business experience,” says Waller chairman Matt Burnstein. “Buy-side or sell-side, every transaction involves complex tax issues, and we’re delighted to add an individual who increases our depth and experience.”
Hand also represents sponsors and investors in fund formation activities involving private equity, venture capital and hedge funds. Additionally, he advises fund managers and investment advisors on evolving financial and securities regulations and the tax implications associated with equity and debt offerings, financing and other capital market transactions.
Hand earned his J.D. in 2003 from the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University, where he served as executive editor of the American Journal of Trial Advocacy and was recognized as a Scholar of Merit.
He earned an MBA concurrently from Samford University and his Master of Laws in Taxation in 2004 from Northwestern University School of Law. He is a former president of the Chattanooga Tax Practitioners, a nonprofit association of accountants, attorneys, insurance professionals and trust officers dedicated to the study of taxation.
