CHI Memorial is clear to build its planned hospital in Ringgold.
The Georgia Department of Community Health announced April 29 its approval of CHI Memorial’s Certificate of Need application to build a new hospital in Ringgold.
CHI Memorial acquired the license to operate the hospital in Fort Oglethorpe in December 2017. At that time, leadership promised to build a new building.
CHI Memorial was required to file a CON because the new campus is more than three-and-a-half miles from the current location.
CHI Memorial may now finalize the project’s plans and prepare for the groundbreaking, which is scheduled to take place this fall. The new hospital is slated to open in fall 2024.
The Ringgold hospital will feature 64 inpatient beds, including an intensive care unit, as well as a full-service emergency department, operating rooms and an endoscopy lab.
It will also include a comprehensive imaging center with X-ray, CT, MRI and ultrasound and non-invasive cardiac imaging.
The new building will connect to the current CHI Memorial Parkway building, creating a single campus geared toward establishing a central location for inpatient and outpatient services.
“Bringing more services to a campus that’s close to a major interstate and in the epicenter of local commercial and residential growth will provide greater access to comprehensive health care closer to home,” says Janelle Reilly, CHI Memorial market CEO. “It’s what the people of North Georgia need and we’re happy to partner with them on this journey.”
