Local deputies to be featured on ‘COPS’ TV show

The producers of the “COPS” television show are coming to Hamilton County to film several episodes for the 2018 season.

Cue Bob Marley’s “Bad Boys.”

“COPS” camera crews will be riding with Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office deputies for several weeks in May and June to capture stories and incident footage for their television series. Potential episodes could air this fall.

“COPS,” now owned by the Paramount Network, is in its 31st season of filming. The show has documented the activities of local and state law enforcement agencies across not only the U.S. but internationally for over 30 years.

“I’m pleased COPS has chosen to display the talent, expertise and professionalism of our deputies not only to the members of our community but to the world,” says Sheriff Jim Hammond. “Many men and women who serve in law enforcement today, including several in our agency, watched ‘COPS’ as a young adult and chose a profession in law enforcement based on what they saw. We can use this unique opportunity as a way to recruit the best and brightest to our ranks.”

Recently, the executive director of “COPS” flew in to Chattanooga to meet with the HCSO’s command staff, public information officer and Sheriff Hammond to discuss the final preparations for filming.
