Saturday, May 27

The third annual glaucoma clinic examined 4,208 people at the First Christian Church. Of that number, 236 were found with indications of glaucoma.

Sunday, May 28

The City of Chattanooga has completed the purchase of a site in the Rivermont area for the future construction of a Junior High School to cost upward of $1,000,000. The property adjoins the north side of the Rivermont Country Club. The 31-acre tract was purchased from Mr. and Mrs. Paul B. Carter for a consideration of $75,000.

Monday, May 29

Mayor Olgiati proclaimed Monday “Slow Down and Live Days” in Chattanooga as part of a nation wide program to focus attention on the nations mounting death toll due to traffic accidents. The program spans a three-month period between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

Friday, June 2

A record class of 511 graduated Thursday night from Chattanooga High School at exercises in Memorial Auditorium. Dr. Andrew Holt, president of the University of Tennessee, was the commencement speaker.
