Brackett assumes HFMA presidency




The Tennessee Chapter of the Healthcare Financial Management Association has announced the election of Erlanger vice president Misty Brackett to its board of directors.

Brackett serves as the vice president of revenue cycle for Erlanger in Chattanooga. Before joining Erlanger, she held multiple leadership roles, including health information management director and chief compliance officer for a critical access hospital in North Dakota and director of operations for Healthport.

Active in many professional organizations, Brackett is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and Healthcare Financial Management Association. She holds a Healthcare Compliance Certification from the Health Care Compliance Association and a Registered Health Information Administrator Certification from the American Health Information Association.

Brackett earned an MBA from Bethel University in Minnesota and a Bachelor of Science in health information management from the University of Cincinnati.

Kinsey accepts role with Parks and Outdoors

Mayor Tim Kelly has appointed Monica Kinsey as the new deputy administrator for the city of Chattanooga’s Department of Parks and Outdoors.

Kinsey has more than two decades of experience in operations management, administration, project management and community engagement. Her career is marked by a track record in managing trade shows, conferences, galas and festivals.

Kinsey holds numerous roles, including memberships on the city of Chattanooga Beer Board commission and the Chattanooga Chamber board of directors, and is president of the Southside Chamber Council.

Kinsey’s community contributions include work with Arts Build, River City Company and Chattanooga Tourism Company, and as the founder of Caravan Tribe, City of Creators and Track29.

In her new role, Kinsey will guide nearly 200 team members through implementing new ideas, securing budgets and managing change.

CHI Memorial taps Williams for COO

James Williams is the new chief operating officer of CHI Memorial.

In his previous role as chief administrative officer at Rochester Regional Health, Williams assumed leadership of several service lines, including oncology, palliative medicine, emergency medicine, surgery and GI. He collaborated with medical and nursing leaders to manage operations across numerous ambulatory sites and six cancer center locations, and oversaw operational and capital budgets exceeding $180 million.

Additionally, Williams led performance improvement and projects to enhance operational efficiency and ambulatory access, while also developing and implementing quality improvement plans, including accreditation programs. He also served as a leader on the health system’s perioperative and emergency medicine governance structure.

Before that, Williams held various leadership positions at Presence Health and Deloitte Consulting, where he led performance improvement initiatives and collaborated with clients to identify and implement cost-saving opportunities.

Williams holds a Master of Health Service Administration degree from Xavier University and a Bachelor of Science degree in biology.

Chattanooga Heart welcomes new MDs

Dr. Neal Miller, cardiologist, and Dr. Vanessa Miller, cardiothoracic surgeon, have joined The Chattanooga Heart Institute.

Dr. Neal Miller earned his medical degree from Wake Forest School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He completed a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in cardiovascular disease at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine. His specialty is cardiac imaging.

Dr. Vanessa Miller earned her medical degree from the Wake Forest School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She completed a residency in general surgery and a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

GPS names Engel tennis director

GPS has tapped Allison Engel to serve as director of its tennis and racquets sports programs after a national search led by McMahon Careers and The Finney Group.

A graduate of James Madison University, Engel currently resides in Richmond, Virginia, where she most recently organized and taught tennis and pickleball at Westwood Club.

Before Westwood, Engel was the director of tennis at Lakeside Park Club, where she tripled member participation in three years.

A graduate of the Certified Racquet Sports Executive program, Engel also holds certifications through USPTA (Tennis and Platform), PPR (Pickleball), PCR (Padel) and ITPA (Fitness).

Before committing herself to a career in the tennis industry, Engel spent 10 years as a middle school Spanish teacher in Virginia.
