Attorney Christopher Poole has joined the law firm of Chambliss, Bahner & Stophel, where he will serve the litigation, risk management and health care practice areas.

President and managing shareholder Mark Cunningham says Poole’s tenure at the United States Attorney’s Office in the Eastern District of Tennessee, where he navigated myriad complex cases, and his ability to achieve optimal outcomes for clients in challenging legal scenarios are a testament to his skill and professionalism.

“We look forward to leveraging Chris’ experience and courtroom knowledge to defend our clients in high stakes litigation,” Cunningham adds.

With over 25 years as a federal and state prosecutor, Poole specializes in criminal defense, white collar cases, family law and general civil litigation. He advises corporations and individuals on potential criminal liability and draws from his trial experience in state and federal courts, including numerous jury trials and arguments before the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals, to educate clients on defense strategies.

In addition, Poole represents health care providers in qui tam litigation, white-collar criminal defense, payment and licensing disputes, and fraud and abuse litigation.

Before joining Chambliss, Poole held a senior position at the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Eastern District of Tennessee. As a federal prosecutor, he managed cases involving elected officials, corporations, international criminals and cybercrime.

Poole now applies his courtroom knowledge to advocate for clients in civil litigation, family law and criminal defense.

Poole is a recipient of numerous accolades, including the American Inns of Court Civility Award by the Hamilton County federal and state judiciary in 2022, the Exceptional Service Award from the National Association of Former U.S. Attorneys in 2014, and the Executive Office of the United States Attorneys Director’s Award for Superior Performance in 2009.

In addition, Poole is a member of the Chattanooga and Federal Bar Associations.

Poole graduated from Wake Forest University and the Georgia State University College of Law. He is licensed in Tennessee and Georgia.
