Newsmakers: UTC names Jones associate vice chancellor

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga has appointed Ryan Jones as associate vice chancellor of advancement. In his new role, Jones will lead and coordinate fundraising efforts across the university’s academic, athletic and student support programs.

Jones, who has served as interim associate vice chancellor since February, brings a proven track record of fundraising success. Under his leadership, UTC Athletics saw three consecutive years of raising over $3.3 million and set a record in 2023-24 with $4.7 million in gifts and commitments. His efforts also contributed to UTC’s largest-ever fundraising year in 2024, when the university generated $60.1 million from more than 6,700 donors.

Named the 2025 College Division Fundraiser of the Year by the National Association of Athletic Directors of Development, Jones previously held fundraising roles at Western Carolina University and the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.

Originally from Raleigh, North Carolina, Jones holds degrees from North Carolina State University and the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.

”Ryan’s promotion is a testament to his leadership and commitment,” says Mark Wharton, UTC athletics director.
