Realtors come together for annual Volunteer Days

Realtors spend the entire year showing what it truly means to be a good neighbor.

Recent research from the National Association of Realtors (NAR), published in the CARE Report: Community Aid and Real Estate reveals that nearly seven in 10 Realtors (69%) volunteer eight hours each month. Additionally, 86% of Realtors donate money to charitable organizations. Community involvement is also a key priority, with 80% saying it’s an important part of their business plan and 82% stating it holds personal significance for them.

In addition to their year-round individual efforts, Realtors nationwide come together each May for NAR’s Volunteer Days. This year, Greater Chattanooga Realtors is proud to once again take part in this initiative – a powerful reminder that while we help people find homes, we’re equally dedicated to strengthening the communities we serve.

For the 2025 Volunteer Days, Greater Chattanooga Realtors (GCR) is focusing on a critical issue: food insecurity among local children. When school breaks for the summer, many children lose access to the regular meals they rely on through school lunch programs or initiatives like the Snack Pack Ministry – a program we support both financially and by volunteering at monthly packing events.

With rising food costs and recent budget cuts, the Chattanooga Area Food Bank is in urgent need of additional support – and that’s where we come in. To help bridge the gap, Greater Chattanooga Realtors’ Cultural Awareness & Fair Housing Committee is hosting a Food Drive to benefit our local food banks.

We warmly invite all our members and the community to take part by donating some of the most urgently needed items:

• Peanut butter

• Canned vegetables (beans, corn, green beans, carrots, peas)

• Canned fruit

• Canned soup

• Canned proteins (pork & beans, chili, chicken)

Donations can be dropped off at the association office Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. until the end of the month. If you’re planning a larger donation and need assistance with pickup, please reach out to Fanci Moore at 423-698-8001.

Realtors across the country embody the spirit of volunteerism that sets our profession apart. Let’s continue to show that Realtors are good neighbors – because when we come together, we don’t just help people find houses; we help build stronger, more compassionate communities.
