Would you consider trusting your dinner to a toothily grinning man wearing a jetpack? This was the question I had to consider when deliberating on my weekly pizza carryout choice. The new pizza parlor, Jet’s Pizza, located on Hixson Pike in the Rivermont Shopping Plaza, has a mascot of such description, which was what initially attracted my attention to the location.

Jet’s Pizza offers online ordering, call-in service, delivery, carryout and dine-in options, with the speedy wait time their name implies of only 15 minutes for a carryout order. Their menu is packed with choices of toppings, sides and additions, and they offer specialty pizzas for those feeling less creative. Their specialty pizzas include BBQ chicken, BLT, Hawaiian, Chicken Parmesan, Super Spec-ial, All Meaty, Veggie, Grilled Chicken and Jet 10. The Jet 10 includes the 10 savory toppings of mozzarella, pepperoni, ham, mushroom, onions, green peppers, hamburger, Italian sausage, bacon and black olives.

Take off the veggies from the Jet 10 pizza and you have their All Meaty pizza, which came out hot and very tasty in the deep-dish variety. Jet’s also offers their pizza in thin crust and hand tossed style as well. Jet’s allows customers to “flavorize” their pizza crust for free with butter, poppy seed, shredded parmesan, garlic, sesame seed, Cajun, Romano cheese or the Jet’s turbo crust, which is a special blend of butter, garlic and Romano Cheese.

The Jet’s 8 corner pizza has had a popular following in featuring eight delicious deep dish slices with its own corner crust. The New York Bold Fold pizza is only six slices but has more than enough taste in one slice to put even the heartiest pizza champion down for the count. There’s also Jet’s Wings or boneless chicken that can be done plain, BBQ, Honey BBQ, mild or hot sauce.

For salads, there is the Antipasto, Greek, Caesar and Garden to choose from, with the option to add chicken to any of these. Jet’s also features freshly baked bread topped with premium mozzarella cheese, butter, garlic and Romano cheese, and customers can add pepperoni or bacon if they wish. Jet’s has party tray pizzas, party salads, and they serve their pizza by the slice all day as well. Although I don’t see how it is possible, but for those who don’t like pizza, there are Jet’s famous (and piled high) subs. From Italian, Steak and Cheese, Tuna, Meatball, and Classic Grilled Chicken to Ham and Cheese, Vegetarian, Pizza and Chicken Parmesan, there are many reasons to return to Jet’s just for these subs.

What is an Italian restaurant without calzones? The Jet’s Boat items are freshly baked pizza dough stuffed with mozzarella cheese, pizza sauce and your choice of a topping. The Deli Boat item offers the same deal of fresh baked pizza dough but stuffed, this time, with your favorite sub ingredients as mentioned above.

Jet’s Pizza is making their name stand for quality pizza by offering all of these items hot, fresh and fast. They also are distributing quite a few coupons so that the price to feed the family shouldn’t run more than $20. There is plenty of room inside the restaurant for families, singles and even medium-sized parties to meet. Dining in also means that patrons can use the fountain soda machine that makes a perfect combination with pizza.

For dessert, try the Cinnamon Stix, which is 12 pieces of freshly baked bread topped with cinnamon and vanilla icing for only $4.99. I was able to get a large Meaty Pizza and a small order of Jet’s bread (10 pieces) for only $21.08, and this pizza will certainly feed a family of at least four. This new restaurant is doing very well, with the phone ringing constantly and a steady stream of customers coming in and out. Even with the new Rice Boxx restaurant located next door, the two businesses are able to share the business flow equally, which is good news for the Hixson area they occupy. I see both restaurants being able to stick around for awhile. Look for a review of the Rice Boxx this month.

You can find Jet’s Pizza on Facebook, order online at www.jetspizza.com, or call in an order at 423-757-1616. Although the wide smile of the Jet’s jetpack man may be off-putting at first, don’t be shy and grab a slice of pie at this new and affordable location.
