The Chattanooga Area Food Bank has added Sophie Moore as a development officer focused on health care partnerships. Moore will collaborate with hospitals, clinics, physicians and others to identify and connect those affected by hunger with food distribution sites. Moore will also assist with fundraising and community engagement efforts.
Moore recently moved to Chattanooga from Nashville where she worked for more than a decade to support healthcare organizations. Prior to her relocation, she was director of public relations and communications at Community Health Systems, where she provided strategic communications guidance to hospitals across the country.
She was previously director of communications at the Nashville Health Care Council. Moore also held communications roles at the State of Tennessee for the Department of Health and the Department of Revenue and began her career at public relations agency Golin in Atlanta, where she represented healthcare clients.
Moore is a graduate of Vanderbilt University. She served as volunteer and board member with Nashville area nonprofit organizations United Cerebral Palsy, All About Women, Nashville Emerging Leaders and the Tennessee Women’s Political Collaborative. She and her husband look forward to becoming active in the Chattanooga area.
PEF names Scruggs VP, development
The Public Education Foundation has selected Donyel Scruggs as its vice president for development. Scruggs will lead the nonprofit’s fundraising and communications efforts and develop and expand the organization’s partnerships.
Scruggs earned a Bachelor of Arts in communication and a Master of Public Administration from University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She serves on the boards of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, UTC Public Service Advisory and Young Professionals of Chattanooga.
Donyel is a 2017 Leadership Chattanooga graduate, a United Way of Chattanooga Emerging Leader and a member of the Chattanooga Women’s Leadership Institute. She and her husband, Jeremy, live in Chattanooga with their son, Austin.
Parkridge adds pulmonologist
Board-certified pulmonologist Dr. Susan Taylor is now seeing patients at Parkridge Medical Group – Diagnostic Center, 2205 McCallie Ave.
Taylor earned her medical degree from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine. She completed a residency in family medicine at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, where she gained experience in caring for patients in the intensive care unit. Taylor further cultivated her ICU training while serving a fellowship in pulmonary disease at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine, where she spent two years rotating through ICUs at various medical centers in Memphis.
Taylor will treat a broad range of conditions at Parkridge Medical Center, including asthma, cardiopulmonary disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder and pulmonary hypertension.
