Citizens across the community attended Mayor Andy Berke’s second annual State of the City address Monday in the ballroom of the Chattanoogan Hotel.
During the address, Mayor Berke announced several new initiatives including the Auto Work Force Development Task Force, which will hammer out a plan to prepare Chattanoogans for jobs in the automotive industry, and the Mayor’s Council on Women, which he has given the task of opening doors for women in the public and private sectors.City Council Chairwoman Carol Berz will lead the council.
The mayor also announced a plan to allow families of children who are on free or reduced-price lunch at school to purchase Internet service from EPB for a discounted rate.
