Members of the Hamilton County Commission gave the Skyfall neighborhood in East Brainerd approval to move forward at a meeting last week. The $12 million project will provide 35 homes on 14 acres, and is being developed by Rick Harris of Big Whiskey Land & Cattle Company.
The neighborhood will feature a French Country theme with a double boulevard entrance. Skyfall has gone above the current requirements of the Regional Planning Agency by providing rain gardens to capture water and keep it on each individual property. Pervious asphalt will also be used in various locations throughout the neighborhood to assist with storm water runoff. In addition, the neighborhood will feature a community garden, pool, and clubhouse. Homeowners with boats, trailers, or other types of recreational equipment will have a special storage area to keep items out of sight and out of the weather.
The original plan called for a secondary road developed for service vehicle use. Upon concerns expressed by a neighbor, the developer agreed to place a gate to discourage use by the community while allowing access for emergency and service equipment.
Harris said, “We wanted to design a place that encourages a neighborhood in the truest sense of the word. Our plan calls for distinctive homes featuring top line amenities that will be smart for the environment as well as the homeowner. We are honored to receive the support of the Hamilton County Commission.”
Harris plans to begin work on site immediately.
