Saturday, April 26

Miss Hilda Perry was hostess of a buffet supper at her home on Oak Street in honor of her guest Miss Louise Balsley of Reidsville, N.C. Twenty couples of the younger set were invited.

Mrs. Roland W. Olmsted will entertain at her home on McCallie Avenue in honor of her guest, Mrs. Smallman of Virginia.

Sunday, April 27

Chattanooga High School will graduate a class of 57 this year. The honor students are Raymond Barnes, valedictorian; Katherine Stewart, salutatorian; Young Neal and Margaret White, class honor; James Ensign and Clara Hill, faculty honor. Prof. H.D. Wyatt, principal, and Miss Lucy Holtzclaw are in charge of the commencement program.

The Tuberculosis Sanitarium is ready for occupancy. It is situated on top of a high knoll in the northern part of Hill City. The estimated cost is $75,000. No date has been set for the opening because of delays in receiving the necessary furniture.

Monday, April 28

Miss Eva Pat Connor of Arkansas, who was appointed sponsor for the Arkansas Division United Sons of Confederate Veterans, will be the guest of Col. and Mrs. W.D. Spears for the reunion.

Tuesday, April 29

Vincent D. Mahoney has returned from Atlanta, where he attended the Grand Opera.

Sam Strauss, who has been ill at his home, was taken Monday to Highland Sanitarium, where he will undergo an operation.

Wednesday, April 30

Floyd E. Barker and Miss Jane Olga Sparks were quietly married Tuesday evening by Dr. J.W. Perry at his home. Mr. Barker is connected with Davidson Clothing Co. Mrs. Barker is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. B.W. Sparks of McMinnville. They will be at home at 205 Walnut Street.

Brigadier General P.J. Cleary and Miss Minnie Brabson have returned from Florida and are with Mrs. Mary Brabson Littleton.

Thursday, May 1

Mrs. George W. Ochs, wife of the publisher of the Philadelphia Public Ledger, died at her home Wednesday. She was a woman of great charm and had many friends. She leaves a husband and two small children.

Miss Elizabeth Lee, daughter of Mrs. C.B. Whaley, has been appointed Maid of Honor on the staff of Gen. Charles R. Collins, Commander of Tennessee Division U.S.C.V.

Bruce Crabtree entertained with an informal dinner party at the home of his parents, Col. and Mrs. W.R. Crabtree, in honor of Miss Louise Balsley of North Carolina, who is visiting Miss Hilda Perry.

Friday, May 2

Miss Willard Freeman of Bellbuckle and Andrew Smith of Chattanooga were married at the home of Miss Freeman’s aunt by Dr. Ira A. Boswell. Following a reception, the young couple left for an Eastern trip.

Mrs. Elsie Lowe and Miss Helen Tucker, who have been traveling abroad, will return soon. Mrs. Lowe fell fracturing her shoulder and arm.
