Saturday, April 16
New construction projects which would add 113 classrooms to the Hamilton County Schools and cost approximately $4,400,000 were recommended Thurs-day by the school board.
Sunday, April 17
The Chattanooga Lookouts opening day drew a crowd of 6,001 to see Atlanta defeat the home team 5-4.
Monday, April 18
V.W. Maddox, Chatta-nooga businessman and
former Hamilton County Sheriff, was nominated by acclamation as the Repub-lican candidate for sheriff in the general election August 4th.
Tuesday, April 19
The Chattanooga Symphony made its final appearance of the season Monday night in a “Family Night” concert staged courtesy of Grant-Patten Milk Company. Julius Hegyi, symphony conductor, chose livelier tidbits from the symphony’s season, to entertain an enthusiastic audience.
Wednesday, April 20
The late County Judge Wilkes T. Thrasher, was honored Tuesday by Arnold A. Burnette, executive secretary of the Citizens Taxpayers Association. Burnette planted a scarlet maple tree on the south lawn of the Court House in his memory.
