Chattanooga’s celebration of “Baby Week” will open this afternoon at 2:30. There will be 600 babies in automobiles and go-carts accompanied by “Littleton’s Rookies” parading from Fourth St. to 11th Street on Market. The “Rookies” will be commanded by Col. Cowen Webb, Capt. W.J. Willingham, 1st Lt. Will Allen Wilkerson, and 2nd Lt. Ed Herron, Jr., Color Sergeant John Carroll, Buglers Douglas Thatcher, Porter Warner, Floyd Walton, George Beckett, Frank Krug and James Hassell., and Drummer Boys, George Millican and Louie Lane.
Edward E. Brown, Stanley Lachman and Earle N. Webster have gone to Birmingham representing the Chamber of Commerce and Sons of Confederate Veterans to make arrangements for the Confederate Reunion May 16-18.
Sunday, April 16
Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Haymore announce the engagement of their daughter, Wenonah Reed Haymore, to Arthur W. Lawson. The wedding to take place May 9 at the Central Baptist Church.
Misses Annie and Carey Van Dyke will spend the summer with Mr. and Mrs. T.N. Van Dyke on Walden’s Ridge.
Monday, April 17
George S. Elder, a former Chattanoogan, will be president of the new $1,350,000 syndicate of shirt manufacturers in St. Louis. It will be known as Elder, Ferguson, McKenney Co. and the payroll will include 2,500 employees. Mr. Elder is the son of L.M. Elder, a Chattanooga attorney.
Tuesday, April 18
Miss Annabel DeTar of Detroit has arrived to be the guest of Miss Vera Trimby on Missionary Ridge.
The Tennessee Library Association met in its annual convention at the Chattanooga Public Library Monday. Miss Margaret Dunlap, librarian and state president, presided. J.J. Mahoney, president of the Board of Directors, welcomed the visitors.
Mrs. N.H. Grady and Miss Annie Grady will go to Atlanta to visit Mrs. Newton Craig and later will go to Adairsville to visit Mrs. Julia Judd.
Wednesday, April 19
Today is opening day for the Lookouts at Andrews Field. Commissioner Ed Herron will throw the first ball.
Mrs. J.W. Chambliss of Jefferson City arrives today to be the guest of Mr. and Mrs. A.W. Chambliss while Mr. Chambliss is in Missouri.
Thursday, April 20
Miss Saba Doak formerly of Chattanooga but now living in Chicago, will be soloist at a concert given by the Pilgrim Church May 4. She will be the guest of Dr. and Mrs. Walter G. Bogart.
Friday, April 21
Mrs. Edward Davidson will entertain with a luncheon Monday at the Golf and Country Club in honor of Mrs. Oscar Seagle.
Misses Mamie and Sara Bright have gone to Atlanta to attend Grand Opera.
