Three Chattanooga Rotary Clubs are teaming up to sponsor the 2012 Gourmet Guys Food Tasting Gala on March 24. The event will take place from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the First Tennessee Pavilion. The entrance fee is $15 per person. Family tickets are available for $50, and kids under 10 will eat free.
Gourmet Guys is a food-tasting gala pitting 60 to 90 chefs against each other in an amateur event. Attendees will be able to taste all kinds of appetizers, soups, sides, salads, entrees and desserts, and vote for their favorite chefs.
The family-friendly event has several sponsorship opportunities ranging from $100 to $,5000. Proceeds from the event will be used to support initiatives for needy children locally and internationally.
Examples of local Rotary Kidz projects include: providing computers, technology and books for kids at local elementary schools; “Warm Coats for Cool Kidz”; scholarships to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and Chattanooga State; donating and packing weekend backpacks of food for underprivileged children; hosting an annual holiday party for Children’s Home Chambliss Shelter; providing holiday gifts for underprivileged children; and donating infant car seats.
Internationally, projects include funding clear water tank projects for children at schools in Mexico, delivering and installing water filters for children and families in Lima, Peru, constructing two children’s centers in Peru, providing water wells, sanitation and humanitarian relief for children in Haiti, and funding educational programs for children in Uganda.
