The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel has elected Baker Donelson’s Shaheen Imami to serve on its board of regents. Imami’s election to the board is for an initial three-year term.
Since 2013, Imami has been a member of numerous committees within ACTEC – including the Practice Committee, the Fiduciary Litigation Committee and the Program Committee – and as the chair of Michigan.
He’s currently serving on the Long Range Planning Committee, the Joint ACTEC/National College of Probate Judges Task Force, the Business Planning Committee and the Fiduciary Administration Committee.
In his practice, Imami focuses on drafting and amending estate planning and related documents for high net worth and ultra-high net worth clients. He counsels and represents clients in the areas of post-death administration, estate and tax planning matters and fiduciary litigation, assists with preparing fiduciary income, gift and estate tax returns and acts as an expert witness in related practice areas.
Imami is a graduate of Georgia State University College of Law and a member of the American, Tennessee and Michigan bar associations. He’s also a member of the Estate Planning Council of Chattanooga and the Chattanooga Tax Practitioners.
Established in 1949, ACTEC is a nonprofit association of 2,400 lawyers and law professors from throughout the United States and abroad. ACTEC members are peer-elected on the basis of professional reputation and expertise in the preparation of wills and trusts, estate planning, probate, trust administration and related practice areas.
ACTEC’s mission includes the improvement and reform of probate, trust and tax laws and procedures and professional practice standards.
