The Home Builders Association of Greater Chattanooga has named Doug Fisher as its executive officer after a nationwide search.

Fisher has a private and public career spanning more than 30 years. His most recent roles include serving as director of external affairs for the Big South Region of Comcast NBC Universal and as executive director of the Tennessee Cable Telecommunications Association.

Fisher founded and operated two businesses. He ran DH Fisher & Associates and Chattanooga Regional Interconnect for more than 12 years, specializing in marketing, strategic planning, brand development, public affairs, telecommunications and government relations.

For seven years, the Chattanooga native and University of Tennessee at Chattanooga graduate served as vice president of governmental and corporate affairs for the Erlanger Health System.

Fisher also served as district director for U.S. Rep. Zach Wamp and as a staff and press advance officer in the Reagan White House. He was also press secretary to Tennessee Gov. Winfield Dunn.

In addition to his work with U.S. and Tennessee state officials, telecommunications and health care industries, Fisher has a background in law enforcement, having served as public information officer for the Chattanooga Police Department. During that time, he traveled nationwide educating public agencies on successful management of crisis situations.

Fisher is married to Chris Swafford Fisher, a 30-year Merck Oncology pharmaceutical representative. The Fishers have three grown children.
