The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office has gone global.
The segments of “Cops” filmed in Hamilton County last summer have begun airing as parts of seasons 31 and 32 of the reality show.
The HCSO’s patrol division will be featured in four segments. “I’m a Security Inspector” aired March 4 as part of season 31. The second and third stories, “Unwilling Pursuit Passenger” and “I Walk Alone,” will air March 18.
The remaining episode, “Running in the Swamp,” will air this summer.
Last summer, “Cops” television crews were embedded with HCSO personnel for eight weeks to capture the everyday calls and moments the deputies experienced.
For those who do not have access to cable television, Paramount Pictures places full episodes online one week after the segment initially airs at www.paramountnetwork.com/shows/cops.
Arguably the first so-called “reality” show, “Cops” follows police officers, constables and sheriff’s deputies during patrols and various police activities by embedding camera crews with their units.
The show depends entirely on the commentary of the officers and the actions of the people with they interact.
“Cops” is one of the longest-running television programs in the U.S., with more than 30 seasons and over 1,000 episodes on the air. Created by John Langley and Malcolm Barbour, it premiered on FOX Saturday on March 11, 1989.
“Cops” has followed officers in more than 140 U.S. cities and been nominated for four Emmy Awards.
