Tennessee Attorney General Herbert Slatery III has reached an agreement with Dr. Ricardo Causo that requires the Chattanooga pediatrician to pay the state $125,897.65.
“TennCare funds are not unlimited,” Slatery says. “And this office will continue to fight for money wasted on fraudulent claims – money that should be going to treat a vulnerable population.”
Under the Tennessee Medicaid False Claims Act, the state alleges that from July 1, 2012, through Aug. 31, 2017, Causo improperly submitted claims to the TennCare program for prolonged services he did not render.
As a result, Causo received payments for prolonged services for which he did not perform.
