Tri-State Home Show
The Home Builders Association of Greater Chattanooga will host its annual Tri-State Home Show March 10-12 at the Chattanooga Convention Center. Sponsored by EPB Fiber Optics, the event will feature over 500 booths offering products and services for home construction and renovation. Visitors will be able to talk with experts about their remodeling projects or home designs and register to win products.
Show hours will be 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday, March 10 and Saturday, March 11, and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday, March 12. Admission will be $8 for one day and $13 for a multi-day pass. Children 16 and under will be admitted for free.
Free street festival
Songbirds Guitar Museum will celebrate its grand opening with a series of events beginning on Friday, March 10 and continuing through Sunday, March 12. The pop culture museum is located on the grounds of the Chattanooga Choo Choo.
Throughout the weekend, Songbirds Guitar Museum will host an educational session entitled “Les Paul – From Start to Finish.” Jim Wysocki, a longtime friend of Paul, will provide insight into the inventor, musician and philanthropist. Attendees will be able to touch and play Paul’s personal guitars and see his earliest inventions. Admission to this event is included in the cost of a museum ticket. The weekend will also include a street festival showcasing local entertainment on Saturday, March 11 from noon to 5 p.m. The festival will take place on Station Street between Market Street and Rossville Avenue and is free and open to the public.
The outdoor party will feature Gibson Guitar’s traveling museum and a number of live shows, including Chattanooga Girls Rock, The Pool (British invasion rock and roll), The Drew Sterchi Band (blues) and The Communicators (pop, rock and rap).
Women Build Breakfast
Tickets are now on sale for the 2017 Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga’s Women Build Breakfast. The fundraiser will be held Saturday, March 11 at 9 a.m. at The Chattanoogan Hotel. Proceeds raised at the event will support the construction of the 2017 Women Build home.
The 2017 Women Build Home will be constructed in Chattanooga’s Glass Farms neighborhood by women for a working mother and her two children. Construction of the home will begin in March and completed by mid-June – weather permitting. Breakfast attendees will be invited to sign up as volunteers.

State park hikes
Tennessee’s state parks will host free guided hikes on Saturday, March 18 to celebrate the coming of spring. The hikes closest to Hamilton County will take place at Red Clay State Historic Park and Harrison Bay State Park. To take part in the Red Clay hike, which will consist of a stroll along the Council of Trees Trail, meet Ranger Logan Cammarata at the park’s gazebo at 10 a.m. To join the Harrison Bay hike, meet Ranger Jordan Brison at the park’s CampStore at 7:15 a.m. Red Clay State Historic Park is located at 1140 Red Clay Park Road SW in Cleveland; Harrison Bay State Park is located at 8411 Harrison Bay Road in Harrison. Mendelssohn’s Biblical oratorio
The Chattanooga Bach Choir & Orchestra will present Felix Mendelssohn’s Biblical oratorio “Elijah” on Sunday, March 12 at 3:30 p.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church (8451 E. Brainerd Road). Rescues on the Runway
The Humane Educational Society will host Rescues on the Runway on Saturday, March 25 at 6 p.m. at the Chattanooga Choo Choo Imperial Ballroom. Guests will enjoy a three-course meal as well as complimentary wine and beer. Vegetarian options will be available.
Dinner will be followed by a runway show featuring shelter pets who are available for adoption. Guests will also have the opportunity to bid on live auction items ranging from vacations to artwork. Register at www.heschatt.org/fm/events/detail/id/24.
EXPO Chattanooga
EXPO Chattanooga will take place Wednesday, March 29 at the Chattanooga Convention Center. Presented by the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce, the event will feature more than 230 exhibitors. EXPO Chattanooga is free and open to the public. Booth hours will be 10-11:30 a.m. and 1-4 p.m.
Spring plant sale
Crabtree Farms will host its annual spring plant sale Friday, April 7 through Sunday, April 9. Hours will be 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on Sunday. Products will include hundreds of fruit, vegetable and herb plant starts for spring and summer gardens. In addition to the sale, guests will be invited to enjoy food, live music, free workshops and local crafts. Crabtree Farms is located at 1000 E. 30th St.
Sculpture Fields fete
Sculpture Fields will celebrate its first anniversary Saturday, April 8 with a day-long event. Taking place from 9 a.m.-9 p.m., the festivities will be free and open to the public.
Guests will be able to see the installation of a 60-foot steel sculpture by internationally known sculptor John Henry, enjoy a performance by the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera’s wind ensemble, purchase concessions, watch artists paint and draw and finish off the day with the burning of a 15-foot wooden structure by artist Andrew Nigh.
