Chattanooga PD graduates new officers




These 18 officers have joined the ranks of the Chattanooga Police Department after completing the local police academy and will now spend four months in field training with veteran officers. - Photograph provided

The Chattanooga Police Department added 18 new officers to its ranks Jan. 30. CPD Class 2019-3 includes four graduates who previously served in the armed forces and are choosing to now serve the people of Chattanooga. There is one legacy graduate, cadet McKenzie Pierre, who is the brother of Officer Christiana Pierre-Monroe. The class also includes three female graduates.

The class completed an intense 22-week training program. Instruction received included crisis intervention training, community policing, implicit bias training, defensive tactics and supporting victims of crime.

Award winners include:

  • Joseph Fincher, Physical Fitness Award
  • Dakota Williams, Academic Award
  • Andrew Hayes, Pistol Marksmanship Award
  • Sylvia Montana, Most Improved Shooter Certificate

The 18 officers have transitioned to the next phase of their development, which will consist of four months of field training with experienced CPD officers.

The CPD is hiring for the August 2020 academy.
