Saturday, February 6
Circuit Judge David Tom Walker’s $5,750 qualifying fee for Hamilton County’s Democratic Primary April 5 will be raised by a group from the Chattanooga Bar Association on an anonymous basis, John P. Gaither, bar president disclosed Friday. At the same time, Gaither recommended a revision of an election custom in the county that requires Democrats seeking nomination to state judgeships here to run in the county.
Sunday, February 7
Construction will start immediately on the first 50 of a total of 440 homes to be erected in Port Serena Village, Horace E. Collins, contractor and president of Suburban Lake Homes Inc., announced Satur-day.
Wednesday, February 10
The Interstate Life and Accident Insurance Company purchased the property at the southwest corner of McCallie and Houston Street, formerly Tomlinson’s Restaurant, it was announced Tues-day by H. Clay Evans Johnson, Interstate president. The building will be remodeled and half of it will be for rental and the other half for Interstate’s general agency.
