A famous Civil War drama is being shown at the Alcazar – “The Warrens of Virginia.” Blanche Sweet plays the leading role of a romantic Southern girl who falls in love with a Northern soldier played by House Peters.
Friends of G.C. Dotson, fireman on the Queen and Crescent railroad, are seeking a Carnegie Medal of Honor for the heroic fireman who saved a two-and-a-half year old baby boy who ran on the track in front of the fast freight at Spring City. The boy was not injured, but Mr. Dotson was hit by a beam on the engine and slightly injured.
Mrs. John Fletcher will entertain with a sewing party in honor of Mrs. T.T. Crawford this afternoon.
Sunday, Feb. 28
Mrs. S.L. Deakins and little daughter are visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Anderson, in Ringgold, Ga.
Mrs. J.B. Sizer has returned from Lookout Mountain, where she’s been the guest of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John A. Chambliss.
Plans are being drawn for a 50-room hotel on Lookout Mountain that will cost $100,000. The decision will be definitely decided in the next few weeks.
Monday, Mar. 1
Mrs. D.P. Houston will be hostess this afternoon for the regular meeting of the Pro Re Bona Day Nursery Association.
Fashions and fads: White serge suits with heavy bands of braiding; the fuller the skirt, the shorter it seems to be; pretty little flower-wreathed toques are worn atilt; voiles are being made in quantities for the summer fashions.
Mr. and Mrs. Judson Buchanan have returned from St. Louis, where they’ve been visiting Mr. and Mrs. Corliss Buchanan.
Tuesday, Mar. 2
The Theta Sigma fraternity entertained with a reception honoring Prof. H.D. Wyatt, veteran teacher and former principal at City High School. Following the program, he was presented with a bouquet of red and white carnations. Prof. W.E. Erwin, principal of City High, presided. Prof. Wyatt lighted the first hire in Chattanooga Public Schools in Chattanooga in 1872. He was born in 1832.
Wed. Mar. 3
At the annual meeting of the Kosmos Club, Mrs. M.N. Whitaker was elected president for a second term; Mrs. P.J. Kruesi, vice president; Mrs. Clarence Steward, secretary; and Mrs. Foster McFarland, corresponding secretary. The meeting was held in the club room of the Hamilton County Courthouse.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Heiser of New York are planning to attend the Panama Exposition in San Francisco, making the trip in their car. Mrs. Heiser is the former Helen Whiteside of Chattanooga.
Miss Lila Mansfield will leave Friday for Athens, Tenn., to visit Mrs. Fred Mansfield, later going to Sweetwater for a visit.

Mrs. T.F. Stewart and daughter, Miss Bessie Stewart of Missionary Ridge, have returned from a stay in Orlando, Fla.
Mrs. H. H. Eager will entertain the Needlework Club Friday afternoon at her home on Missionary Ridge.
Friday, Mar. 5
A new Daughters of the Revolution Chapter has been organized in St. Elmo at the home of Mrs. Sue C. Johnson. Miss Helen Johnson was elected regent; Mrs. C.V. Fouts, 1st vice regent; Mrs. C.C. Crawford, 2nd vice regent; Mrs. L.G. Greenwood, secretary; Mrs. C.W. Gray, corresponding secretary; and Mrs. Herbert Bushnell, treasurer. The naming of the Chapter was deferred until the next meeting.
Miss Julia Schlesinger of Louisville, Ky., has returned to her home after a visit with Mr. and Mrs. J.N. Schlesinger.
