The principal of Central High School has been in communication with the High School Board, which recommends military training in the school next year as it is the opinion of the Board that the physical training and discipline gained from the military will make boys good citizens and help those who are now loafing.
Mrs. J.T. Lupton and Mrs. Milton B. Ochs have returned from a stay at Camp Sapphire, N.C.
Sunday, Feb. 27
Chattanooga, the “Dynamo of Dixie,” now has under construction seven miles of railway to Red Bank, a belt line extension of the N.C. & St. L. Railway from Cravens to Alton Park, The Volunteer State Life Insurance Company’s steel skyscraper, and a $2 million-dollar steel plant in Chattanooga, all under the leadership of C.E. James, commander in chief of industry.
Mrs. Frank A. Nelson and Mrs. A.W. Gaines will return today from Lexington, Va. Mr. and Mrs. Nelson will move into their new home on Missionary Ridge this week.
The wedding of Miss Elizabeth Butler and John Skillman Burke of Louisville, Ky., will take place March 7 in the Missionary Ridge Chapel.
Monday, Feb. 28
Miss Frances Biese, daughter of Capt. and Mrs. Robert W. Biese, has received honors in Oklahoma. Miss Biese is a pupil of Prof. J.O. Cadek.
Mesdames J.N. Schlesinger and Blucher Blair are expected home soon from a visit in Florida.
Tuesday, March 1
A banquet was given by the YWCA Monday night to observe the Golden Jubilee Celebration. Mrs. C.V. Brown was toastmistress. The rooms were beautifully decorated, and over 300 guests attended.
The condition of Capt. H.S. Chamberlain is reported to be favorable. He recently had to undergo the amputation of his right leg above the knee. Capt. Chamberlain is a prominent iron manufacturer.

In an oratorical contest at the University of Chattanooga, Miss Loraine Pruitt carried off the Patten Award.
Thursday, March 3
Supt. C.M. Winder of the city schools has returned from Detroit, where he attended the convention of the National Education Association.
Mrs. E.E. Reisnian and children are expected home from a visit in New Orleans this weekend.
Mrs. Frank Stratton of New York, the former Miss Annie Wilder, will arrive tonight to visit the Misses Stratton on Poplar Street.

The Rev. Joseph M. Carter of Siloam Springs, Ark., came to attend the funeral service for his twin brother.
