Ensemble Theatre of Chattanooga will be performing “Dusty and the Big Bad World” by Cusi Cram at the theater inside Eastgate Town Center, located at 5600 Brainerd Road, on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 p.m. through March 8.
Cram pulled from her own life experience as a producer on the show “Arthur” to create a story that explores censorship and television’s role in educating children.
Director Paige Salter says even though the play is about a battle, there are no good guys or bad guys. “Yes, the play deals with liberals and conservatives, government control, and censorship of public television. But at the heart of the play are five characters with their own paths that have now crossed,” he says. “To me, the real story is about these people, each trying to do the right thing, and the impact they have on each other.”
Tickets are available at www.ensembletheatreofchattanooga.com, by calling (423) 987-5141, and at the box office. Doors open 30 minutes before each performance. Free parking is available at Eastgate Town Center.
