Scenic City Estate Planning, a division of the Law Offices of David Coates, partnered with Habitat for Humanity and Legal Aid of East Tennessee to offer free estate planning services to every Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga Area homeowner.

Attorney David Coates provided these free services in a marathon legal clinic Saturday, Feb. 6.

“Everyone needs a will,” said Coates, “especially if you own a home.” Coates and his team of volunteers prepared 40 wills during the event.

Cheryl Marsh, director of family services at Habitat for Humanity, said, “Habitat makes the dream of homeownership possible for families who might otherwise not be able to qualify for a traditional loan. Now that these families are homeowners, it’s a blessing to see them able to meet with a lawyer to help protect their homes.”

Over 200 Habitat for Humanity homeowners were eligible for the event. The clinic was held at Chattanooga Housing Authority.
