Chattanooga Mayor Tim Kelly is augmenting the pay of Head Start and Early Head Start workers, whose salaries are paid by the federal government with a city supplement.
Kelly has directed that all full-time Head Start and Early Head Start employees in the city be paid a minimum of $13 per hour and all part-time employees receive a wage of at least $11 per hour.
Employees who are already receiving the new minimum wage will receive a 3.8% city supplement, which on top of a 1.2% federal cost-of-living adjustment will give all employees a minimum 5% pay increase.
The increases will be retroactive to July 1.
