We lawyers sure are different
Than a lot of other folk
We need to argue with a smile
And put up with a lot of jokes
We have to see the good inside
A lot of rotten yokes
Argue for the greater good
Mixing law, politics and hope
So when autumn turns to winter
And Christmas rolls around
Not many people stop to try
And spot the lawyers in the crowd
They don’t see we’re people
When you look down deep inside
That we like our peppermint cocoa
After a brisk midnight sleigh ride
That some like to see our stockings
Stuffed up to the brim
And have been known to glance at the roof
Expecting to still see “him”
While Others light our candles
And think of Hannukah cheer
And that almost every one of us
Hopes for a better coming year
Yes, we lawyers are different
Than a lot of other folk
And at times we can be boring
With our courtroom anecdotes
But remember when winter’s come and gone
And no potato pancakes are fried
When the reindeer have all safely
Returned from across the sky
When thoughts turn to the days ahead
and the holiday lights have died
The December envelopes the smart ones saved
Will have their lawyer’s card inside. v
