The Womens Hospital Auxiliaries of Erlanger and Childrens Hospitals gave $22,412 in equipment or improvements to the two hospitals and 30,447 volunteer hours of service during the past two years, Mrs. W.B. Gates, president, announced at a meeting at Wimberly Inn Friday.

The annual Christmas party at Hunter Gallery of Art was held Sunday afternoon from 3 to 5 p.m. Junior League members were hostesses with Mrs. B.T. Hurley, Jr., as chairman. The Junior League Chorus presented a program of Christmas music.

U.S. District Judge Charles G. Neese Monday tried the first lawsuit of his judicial career, a libel action involving an automobile that agents of the U.S. Alcohol and Tobacco Tax Unit confiscated after finding a bootlegger hauling moonshine liquor in it.

George Cress, chairman of the University of Chattanooga’s Art Department, has received the James Cameron Clark award of $300 as second prize in the 23rd annual exhibition of Contemporary American painting in Palm Beach, Fla.
Wednesday, December 13
The Chattanooga Public Library will purchase the latest “Engineering Index” and other technical publications with the annual $100 check presented Wednesday to Miss Elizabeth Edwards, librarian, by the Chattanooga Engineers Club.

George T. Richardson, general manager of the machine tool division of Noland Co., was elected 1962 chairman of the Chattanooga Industrial Committee of 100 at the group’s annual business meeting at the Chamber of Commerce Wednesday, to succeed Earl J. Platt. Harry White, president of First Federal Savings and Loan Association was elected to succeed Preston P. Jordan as vice chairman.

The Chattanooga Board of Realtors incoming president for 1962 announced at a board luncheon Wednesday in Hotel Patten that five new committees would be added to the group.
