As 2020 comes to a close, Women’s Council Realtors Chattanooga is looking back on a year that was fraught with challenges due to the pandemic but that also yielded progress in education and success in community service.
“2020 started with our cup running over with enthusiasm for our network,” remembers WCR president Connie Powell-Brewer. “’It’s 2020, but I’m not Barbara Walters,’ I recall saying as I welcomed members, strategic partners and guests to our first luncheon in January.”
During in-person and virtual events held throughout 2020, the WCR offered continuing education with Monica Neubauer, attended Realtor Day on the Hill in Nashville and celebrated the 100th anniversary of women’s suffrage.
Guest speakers at the network’s events included GCR President Brandi Pearl Thompson and CEO Carol Seal, Will Clegg of Henderson Hutcherson & McCullough CPAs, Hamilton County Assessor of Property Marty Haynes, Erin Creal of Chattanooga Room in the Inn, Morgan Holmes and Natalie David of Styled & Organized Systems, Realtor coach and motivational speaker Glynn Hodges and Monica Glover of Arrange Home Staging & Redesign.
The WCR also made numerous contributions to the Chattanooga community in 2020, including a donation to support victims of the tornado in April, a donation to support Brittany Lane Shaw in Dare to Dance 2020, which provided housing for kidney patients, and scholarships that allowed its members to attend the parent network’s spring and fall conferences.
“I’m proud of our Chattanooga network, strategic partners, Realtor members and 2020 governing board,” Powell-Brewer says.
Powell-Brewer will continue to serve as WCR president in 2021. She says the network’s vision for the upcoming year remains unchanged from its goals for this year.
“Our vision for 2021 is awareness,” she says. “We want to bring awareness through education and relationships to the members, strategic partners, industry and communities we serve.”
To that end, the WCR will offer events open to all members of the real estate industry and promote opportunities for collaboration, development and education for its members and strategic partners.
In addition to Powell-Brewer serving a second consecutive term as president, other members of the network’s 2021 governing board include Leatha Eaves, president-elect; Jamie Curtis, treasurer; Paige Batten, secretary; Teresa Clegg, event director; Angie Stubo, membership director; and Beth Eubanks and Jordan Lindley, event and membership chairs.
Each woman served in either the same or a different position in 2020.
